Monument to the War of Independence in Kolga-Jaani

The victory of the War of Independence (1918–1920) is the most important event for the Estonian people in the history of their country. As the monuments erected to commemorate it were mercilessly destroyed by the Soviet occupation, the restoration of the monuments that honour the victims of the War of Independence was significant.
In Kolga-Jaani, it was reopened in 1989 on the south side of the churchyard, in a slightly different place than the monument erected in 1925. The current monument is a copy of the former, but slightly narrower.
Pieces of the old monument were fitted at the foot of the new monument as witnesses to historical events.
