Soomaa National Park and Visitor Center

Come and discover Soomaa National Park — the nature here has five seasons!

The national park was established in 1993 to protect large bogs, species-rich floodplains, wooded meadows, and diverse forests. Soomaa National Park stands out for its spring floods, when rivers overflow, and forests become a water labyrinth. This phenomenon is called the fifth season.

To start your nature adventures consciously and comfortably, a modern visitor center awaits you in the heart of Soomaa. Here you can get an overview of the national park, hiking trails, campfire sites, and history. Particularly exciting is the permanent exhibition “Through Soomaa with a Haabjas,” which introduces the haabjas, a traditional dugout canoe listed on UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list. Soomaa is the only region in Estonia that maintains the culture of dugout canoe construction today.

In the cozy, modern, and accessible center, you will find an information point, charging facilities for phones, and washing facilities for hikers. There is also the option to rent a hall for seminars and events.

Start your Soomaa adventure here!
